What Redactly is
Some video you can’t share as it is.
A face in the background. A name on a badge. An address on a parcel. A plate in the driveway. Redactly finds those things and hides them — entirely on your iPhone, in a flow short enough that you’ll actually use it before you post.
Faces
Every face in the frame is found on-device and listed with the timecode it appears at, so you can tell the subject from the bystander before anything is hidden.
On-screen text
Names on lower thirds, case numbers, addresses on parcels, documents on a desk. Text regions are grouped and labelled so you can keep the ones that matter.
License plates
Plates are a supported region type and every hit is flagged for review, so a plate is never quietly acted on without you confirming it.

Redactly never quietly changes your video. It shows you what it found first — grouped, timecoded, with a HIGH or REVIEW confidence label — and tells you what it did not find, so you know it actually looked.
Blur, pixelate or block
Three redaction styles, strength adjustable from 10 to 100, set per region. Defaults are opinionated and safe; you only touch a setting when you disagree with one.
Redactions that follow
Turn on motion tracking and a redaction moves with its subject. When tracking becomes uncertain, Redactly widens the covered area rather than risk exposing a frame — and tells you where, so you can re-anchor it.

Both frames are photographs. The redacted half isn’t a filter over the top — the blur, pixelate and block areas are rendered into the pixels using the same parameters the app uses, so there is nothing underneath to recover. The people shown are stock models and are not Redactly users.

Questions worth asking before you trust it.
Is my video ever uploaded anywhere?
No. Detection and redaction both run on your iPhone using Apple's on-device frameworks. Redactly has no server, no account and no analytics — there is nothing for your video to be uploaded to. You can put the phone in airplane mode and the app works exactly the same.
Does Redactly change my original video?
Never. Exporting writes a separate redacted copy — to Photos, or to whatever destination you pick in the system share sheet. The file you started with is left exactly as it was.
What can it detect?
Faces, on-screen text and license plates. Each detected region is listed with its timecode and a HIGH or REVIEW confidence label, grouped by type. Redactly also reports the categories where it found nothing, so you can tell the difference between “clean” and “didn't look”.
What if it misses something, or hides something it shouldn't?
You have the final say on every region. Nothing is redacted until you say so — you can deselect anything that should stay visible, and add a region manually by drawing it on the canvas if the scan missed it. You can also move, resize or delete any region, and undo.
Does the redaction stay on a moving subject?
Yes — motion tracking can be enabled per region, and the redaction follows the subject across frames. If tracking becomes uncertain, Redactly widens the covered area rather than risk exposing a frame, and tells you exactly where that happened so you can re-anchor it yourself.
How can I be sure it worked?
Before you export, the Preview screen gives you a draggable before/after comparison over the actual result. Drag the handle across the frame and watch the exposed face vanish. You can scrub the timeline and check any moment in the video.
Does exporting reduce quality?
No. Redactly exports at the original resolution and preserves quality. There is no watermark and no length limit.
What does it cost?
Redactly is free. There are no in-app purchases, no subscription, no watermark and no time limit on the videos you can process.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 18 or later. Redactly is iPhone-only and portrait-only in version 1.0, and the interface is currently English.
Can it redact photos, or audio?
Not in version 1.0. Redactly works on video, and it redacts what is visible in the frame. Audio is left as it is, and there is no photo or screenshot redaction.
