What Redactly is
Redactly is a single-purpose iPhone app. You give it a video; it scans every frame on your device for faces, on-screen text and license plates; it shows you a list of everything it found, with timecodes and a confidence label; and you decide what gets hidden.
Then it proves the result. Before you can export, a draggable before/after comparison runs over the actual output, so the claim “this is redacted” is something you verify rather than something you accept.
It is deliberately not a video editor. There is no trimming, no filters, no titles and no format picker. Scope creep would dilute the one thing the app has to be trusted about.

Our mission
Make privacy protection fast, simple and trustworthy.
Protecting someone in your footage should take a minute, not an afternoon — and it should not require handing that footage to a stranger’s server first. Redactly exists to make the careful choice the easy one.
Why it exists
People hold video they can’t share as it is.
A face in the background of a protest clip. A name badge in an interview. A case number on a document. A plate in a driveway. The footage is fine; the identifying detail inside it is not.
The tools that existed for this asked people to upload exactly the material they were trying to protect — or capped free use at ten seconds, or stamped a watermark across the result, or promised automatic detection and delivered a manual selection tool. Each of those is a reason not to bother, and not bothering is how identifying details end up published.
Redactly was built to remove every one of those reasons: free, unlimited, unwatermarked, and structurally incapable of uploading anything.

Detection and redaction both run through Apple’s on-device frameworks. Redactly ships with no networking code for your media, no backend, no account system and no analytics SDK. There is nothing for a video to be sent to, which is a stronger guarantee than any promise to delete it later.

Piyush Shiyani
Redactly is designed and built by Piyush Shiyani, an independent developer. Version 1.0 is its first release for iPhone.
There is no growth team behind this and no data to monetise — which is precisely why the app can afford to have no cloud. If something is wrong, unclear, or missing, the person who wrote the code reads the support mail.
